1 Overview
Island Pals ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Dynamic Island customization application for iPhone. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app works.
This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you use Island Pals, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
Short version: Island Pals does not collect personal information. All your islands and settings stay on your device. The app uses Google AdMob to display ads to free users — AdMob may collect anonymized data for ad personalization, as described below.
2 Data We Collect
Island Pals itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not have servers for user data.
The following data is never collected by Island Pals directly:
- Name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers (IMEI, MAC address, etc.)
- Access to photos, camera, contacts, or microphone
- Behavioral analytics or session recordings
- Health or biometric data
However, third-party services integrated into the app (Google AdMob, Apple StoreKit) may collect data as described in their respective privacy policies. See sections 3 and 4 for details.
3 Google AdMob & Advertising
Island Pals uses Google AdMob — an advertising service by Google LLC — to display advertisements to users on the free tier.
Google AdMob
Google AdMob may collect and process the following data to serve relevant advertisements:
- Advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID) — used for ad targeting and frequency capping
- IP address — used to determine approximate geographic location for regional ad targeting
- Device type, OS version, and screen size — for ad rendering optimization
- App usage signals — number of app opens, session duration for ad frequency
- Ad interaction data — clicks, impressions, and ad engagement metrics
- Coarse location data — at city/region level only, not precise GPS
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by Island Pals. Google may use this data to deliver personalized or contextual ads.
When are ads shown? Advertisements are displayed only to users on the free plan — specifically, a full-screen interstitial ad appears approximately every 3 saves in the island editor. Premium subscribers (monthly or yearly) never see ads.
Ad personalization: By default, AdMob may show personalized ads based on your interests and browsing history. You can manage your ad preferences or opt out of personalized ads through:
- iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
- iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → disable "Personalized Ads"
- Google's Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com
Google's full privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. Google AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's privacy policy.
SKAdNetwork: Island Pals uses Apple's SKAdNetwork framework for privacy-preserving attribution. This system provides aggregate, anonymized campaign measurement without identifying individual users.
4 Subscriptions & Payments
Island Pals offers optional in-app subscriptions processed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit 2.
We never see, handle, or store your payment information. Apple processes all transactions and provides Island Pals only with an anonymous, boolean subscription status (active/inactive).
Data Apple may collect in relation to subscriptions is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Island Pals receives no payment details, no email address, no Apple ID, and no billing information from Apple during subscription transactions.
5 Local Storage
All islands, styles, and settings you create in Island Pals are stored exclusively on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults and local files). This data:
- Never leaves your device through Island Pals
- Is never uploaded to our servers (we operate no user data servers)
- Is never shared with third parties by Island Pals
- Is protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, passcode, encryption)
Deleting the app removes all locally stored island data from your device permanently.
6 Children's Privacy
Island Pals is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
However, Google AdMob may be subject to COPPA compliance regulations. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has been exposed to advertising data collection, you can disable tracking through iOS Settings as described in Section 3.

7 Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access — request information about data collected about you
- Right to deletion — request deletion of your data (note: Island Pals holds no server-side data)
- Right to opt-out — opt out of personalized advertising via iOS settings
- GDPR (EU/EEA users) — you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation
- CCPA (California users) — you have the right to know what data is collected and to opt out of its sale
For data held by Google AdMob, you can submit requests through Google's privacy portal.

8 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
